Give back to your public lands this holiday season with a year-end gift.
In addition to the regular visitation at our most popular site, Red Rock Canyon, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (commonly known as Mt Charleston) is a popular winter destination for locals and out of town visitors who are hoping to experience cooler winter temperatures and the chance to enjoy snow in Las Vegas.
During the winter season, the Spring Mountains see thousands of footsteps every season, and as a non-profit partner to the Spring Mountains and the USDA Forest Service, we want to make sure that visitors stay safe, enjoy their visit, and help mitigate the negative environmental impacts from heavier than normal use of our public lands.
Southern Nevada Conservancy, through the Go Mt Charleston brand, deploys onsite “Snow Hosts” - staff as well as volunteers to help address the safety and information needs of visitors on a daily basis during the busy snow season, interacting with hundreds of visitors a day, along with education programs and guided winter hikes offered free to the public.
In addition to providing information, safety updates, volunteer management, and other visitor services, we also provide the much needed litter clean-up services following the season. Last year, we collected over 15,000 lbs of litter! While we wish this number was smaller, we are confident that through education, outreach, and concerned citizens such as yourselves, we can make the Spring Mountains a safer and cleaner place to play year after year.
Thanks in advance for your generous support!
